Find out the easy way of IPL Laser Hair Removal for Transgender
Hair removal is a
common problem for transgender and transgender clients. Hair can be a sensitive
subject, but knowing how to deal with these issues properly is essential to
ensuring clients feel comfortable during the treatment. It's not uncommon for
people who identify as male or female to have body hair they don't want; this
includes genitals, arms, and legs, face, back - almost everywhere! Fortunately,
there are many ways to remove unwanted hair from these areas.
We will focus on laser
hair removal transgender people. Laser hair removal is the best option
for transgender clients as it does not harm sensitive skin. The laser removes
or reduces unwanted hair by targeting the pigments at the base of each hair
follicle with a beam that disrupts them, helping to prevent new hairs from
forming. This process can take up to eight treatments, but the results are
worth it! We offer laser hair removal at our downtown San Francisco office.
Laser hair removal uses
focused beams of light to target and destroy unwanted hair follicles. During a
laser hair removal session, your doctor will use a hand-held device to deliver
laser energy to the surface of your skin. The light will pass through the
surface of your skin and be absorbed by the pigment in your hair follicles. Laser
hair removal can be an effective treatment for people with unwanted facial or
body hair and can be used anywhere on the body.
How does laser hair removal work?
Other laser
hair removal transgender methods such as shaving, waxing, and tweezers
are time-consuming and painful as well as potentially irritating to the skin.
In contrast, laser therapy provides painless and permanent hair removal
anywhere on the body using the same laser technology commonly used for skin
rejuvenation. Although laser hair removal reduces hair growth and makes hair
smoother, it cannot reduce hair density (the number of hair follicles).
Since hair density is related to the effects
of male hormones, hormone therapy should be used in conjunction with laser hair
removal to achieve ideal results. Over time, the hair becomes weaker and slower
and eventually stops growing altogether. Although about 6-8 treatments are
needed for most areas, parts of the body with thicker hair may need more
treatments. Also, because the laser targets darker tissue, the hair in the
treatment area should also be dark, not yellow.
Is skin care required after IPL hair removal?
There is no downtime
after IPL hair removal, so you can resume
your normal activities right away. However, because your skin may be sensitive,
we recommend applying sunscreen with a sun protection factor to areas exposed
to the sun. We recommend avoiding sunbathing and excessive sun exposure after
treatment to avoid skin damage. After treatment, the affected hair will grow
back. At this point, hair begins to grow out of the hair follicle.
Your hair will fall out
two weeks after your IPL treatment. Now you can gently remove it in the shower
or shower with a towel. Let your hair fall naturally as it falls. Please do not
use tweezers or depilate the treatment area! If the hair does not fall out
naturally, the root is still active and requires further treatment. You can
shave after an IPL hair removal for hair removal
for both men and women, but avoid any treatments that pull hair from the
hairline.
